Slow and steady pays off for Aviators
June 25, 2018 - Prospect League (Prospect)
Lafayette Aviators News Release
Both teams came out swinging at the beginning of tonight's matchup of the Aviators and the Hoots. With one run a piece at the end of the first inning, it looked to be a fast, nail biting game.
It would end up nail biting, but not fast. Both the Aviators and the Hoots shone defensively, with the Aviators' Jarrett Hammel pitching only 3 hits during his 7 innings on the mound this evening. The Aviators were tied with the Hoots at one run each for 8 innings.
In the ninth inning, Tyler Powers brought teammates Jason Cryar and Matthew Patton home to give the Aviators a 2 run lead and a little room to breathe. Hannibal returned and added one run to their end of the board, but the Aviators defense ended the game strong creating a 3-2 Aviators win.
The Aviators return home tomorrow at 6:35 to play Springfield.
