San Diego Gulls News Release

SAN DIEGO - Pierre-Luc Sleigher, the only San Diego Gull to play in all 72 regular season games this season, has been nominated for the Professional Hockey Players' Association 2006 InterContinental Hotels Group Ironman Award.

The ICHG Ironman Award is presented annually to a PHPA member playing in the ECHL and to a member playing in the American Hockey League. The player must have also participated in each of his club's regular season games and contributed both offensively and defensively throughout the 2005-06 regular season.

Sleigher recorded a career-high 50 points this season for San Diego (23g, 27a), while racking up 153 penalty minutes and a team-high 266 shots. The Montreal native was tied for third on the club with four game-winning goals, two of which were scored in overtime. Sleigher is the first Gull to play in every regular season game since Sylvain Deschatelets and David Neale accomplished the feat in 2003-04.

A committee comprised of PHPA officials will announce the ICHG Ironman Award winner in early June.

The Gulls open their fourth season in the ECHL in October. Season ticket packages are currently on sale. For pricing and benefits, contact 619-224-GOAL, ext. 7.
