Joliet Slammers News Release
(Joliet, IL) - The Joliet Slammers announced Wednesday the signings of pitchers James Schult, Chase Doremus and Chris Sobota.
Schult brings professional experience to the fold as the Eastern Connecticut State alum spent 2011 in the Canadian-American Association with the NYSL Federals. The traveling team struggled but Schult finished the season with 10 starts and his ERA was the best on the team among pitchers with 10 or more starts that season.
Doremus comes to the Slammers from Dickinson State University. He brings excellent control to the table as he struck out 55 batters while only walking 17 in 2010.
Sobota worked out for the Slammers last year in Avon, Ohio. The Penn State University alum stands at 6'7'' with impressive velocity on his fastball.
"We're looking forward to seeing all three of these pitchers come in and compete in camp," VP of Baseball Operations Ron Biga said. "They each bring different skill sets to the table that has us excited about their potential to succeed in this league."
