
Slammers Open Series vs River City with Win

Joliet Slammers News Release
Joliet, IL - The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy beat the River City Rascals 6-3 Tuesday night thanks to another dominant performance from Liam O'Sullivan.
Joliet started their scoring early scoring four runs in the bottom of the first headlined by Justin Garcia hitting a three-run home run making it 4-0 Slammers. Garcia now has 13 home runs on the season putting him near the top of the Frontier League leaderboard in the category.
Clint Freeman hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the 4th putting the Rascals on the board at 4-1.
The Slammers scored two more runs in the game with one in the 5th inning on a Justin Garcia sacrifice fly and with Chaz Meadows hitting a sacrifice fly in the 8th inning extending the score to 6-1.
The Rascals would threaten in the bottom of the 9th but the Slammers would hold on for the 6-3 win.
Tonight's Merchants and Manufacturers Bank Player of the Game is Liam O'Sullivan who continues a dominant stretch of pitching for the Slammers. The right hander threw 8 2/3 innings giving up two earned runs on five hits and eight strikeouts. Over his last six starts O'Sullivan has won four games.
With tonight's win the Slammers remain atop the Frontier League East Division with a record of 31-24.
The Slammers return home tomorrow to continue their series versus River City at 10:05 a.m.
