Joliet Slammers News Release
Joliet, IL - The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy hosted the first place Schaumburg Boomers for the second time this season on Tuesday night, June 27.
Slammers' starting pitcher Luis Cruz made his home debut against Conrad Wazniak and Joliet ambushed Schaumburg all evening.
Scoreless after the first inning, Schaumburg's Sean Godfrey hit a solo shot to score first, but Melvin Rodriguez followed with his own solo shot to tie the game. Rock Shoulders scored after an infield single from Josh Merrigan.
Wazniak's struggles continued after walking Juan Silva and Rodriguez. Joliet picked up three more runs after a Travis Bolin homer. Silva also had a 3-run home run in the 4th and drove in a pair in the 5th and has now homered in 3 straight games.
Joliet's offense continues to roll as the Slammers defeated the Boomers 13-4. Cruz gets the win as Wazniak gets the loss for the Boomers.
Game two of the series will be at 10:05am Wednesday morning.
