Bellingham Slam News Release
Bellingham, WA - The Bellingham Slam used a balanced attack to win the second game of a two game series against the Bellevue Blackhawks, 124-93, in an American Basketball Association game Tuesday night at Whatcom Pavilion.
Brandon Hartley and Jacob Stevenson led six Slam players in double figures with 19 points each. Hartley also chipped in nine rebounds and five assists.
Coming off a humbling 60-point loss to the Slam on Sunday night, the Blackhawks once against started off sluggish, allowing the Slam to race out to a 38-22 first quarter lead. Hartley started off hot, scoring nine of the Slam's first 21 points in the quarter.
Bellingham refused to let up in the second quarter, using a 22-3 run over the first seven minutes to help establish a 66-38 halftime lead. Mike Parker, Hartley, and Stevenson led the Slam at the half with nine points each.
Bellevue rallied a bit in the third quarter, using nine points from Antwan Jones to outscore the Slam 29-23 in the frame to pull within 22 going into the fourth quarter. Jones finished the game tied with teammate Donald Watts with 22 points to lead all scorers.
The Slam maintained the status quo in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Blackhawks 35-26 to account for the 124-93 final score. The win was Bellingham's fourth consecutive and brought their record to 10-7. The loss plunged Bellevue's record to 1-8.
The Slam now hit the road for three games in central California, one in Fresno on Thursday night and a pair of games Friday and Saturday night against the division-leading San Jose Skyrockets. For more information, call the Slam at 734-SLAM or visit their website at www.bellinghamslam.com.
