Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Fayetteville SwampDogs are pleased to announce the hiring of Tim Slack as the assistant general manager and play-by-play broadcaster.
A graduate of Biola University in La Mirada, Calif., Slack spent three years re-establishing the school's radio station while attending, before becoming the full-time broadcaster for the Orange County Flyers of the independent Golden Baseball League at the age of 21, his senior year of college.
Slack brings five years of broadcasting professional baseball to "The Swamp," having most recently broadcasted for the Modesto Nuts (High A/Colorado Rockies) in the California League.
"Tim's experience and enthusiasm will be and incredible addition," said SwampDogs general manager Jeremy Aagard. "He fits perfectly into our family atmosphere and we expect great things from him in the broadcast booth and in the community. As we celebrate our 16th season, we look forward to Tim being an integral part of welcoming more fans than ever before!"
Prior to Modesto, Tim was the Sports Director for KIUL in Garden City, Kan. and its sister station KYUL in Scott City, Kan. where he broadcasted over 200 sporting events including high school and junior college football, basketball, and baseball. He also hosted a community-based sports talk show "You Don't Know Slack" with guests ranging from local athletes to Kansas City Royals general manager Dayton Moore.
In addition to play-by-play broadcasts, Slack's duties will include corporate partnerships, new media, and he will be the team's primary media liaison.
"I am very excited to be a part of a first class organization with the SwampDogs," said Slack. "I am eager to continue the success that has been built and I am looking forward to becoming a part of such a great community in Fayetteville."
For the past four years, Slack has been teaching high school students in Walnut Creek, CA where he served as the Varsity Baseball Coach the past two years and began a broadcasting and journalism program at the school. The broadcast program includes the broadcast of live sporting events and received National Recognition through the NFHS Network.
He met his wife Krista during college while working in the Sports Information Department. Krista was a four year starter on the Biola Softball team during that time.
