
Skyhawks Rhp Purchased By Red Sox

The Sussex Skyhawks announced today that RHP Stephen Fox has been purchased by the Boston Red Sox.
In his first season of professional baseball, Fox pitched in 19 games for the Skyhawks. The righty sported a 0-3 record with an earned run average of 3.98. The resident of Washington Township, NJ struck out 42 batters and walked 22 in 40 2/3 innings pitched. Fox, 23, didn't allow an earned run in his final nine innings of work (while striking out nine) and he had a 1.90 ERA with 29 strikeouts in 24 innings over the final two months of the season.
Fox is the second Sussex player (Matt Weston - Houston Astros) and the sixth overall sold to a major league organization in 2009.
