Skyforce Acquires Alexander Johnson

Sioux Falls, S.D. (January 26, 2010) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today the acquisition of former NBA player Alexander Johnson. To make room for Johnson on the roster Sioux Falls waived center Terrence Gamble. The active roster now stands at 10 players.

Johnson holds NBA career averages of 4.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in 102 games (25 starts) over two seasons. He appeared in 43 games (six starts) with the Miami HEAT in 2007-08 and 59 games (19 starts) with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2006-07. He was assigned to the NBA Development League's Arkansas RimRockers during the 2006-07 season and averaged 13.2 points and 8.6 rebounds while shooing 54.3 percent from the field in five games. He was originally selected in the second round (45th overall) of the 2006 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers before being traded to Portland and then Memphis in draft night deals.

The 6-9, 230-pound forward played three seasons at Florida State University and averaged 9.8 points and 5.2 rebounds while shooting 52.0 percent from the floor. He declared for the draft following a successful junior season that saw him earn All-ACC Honorable Mention accolades after averaging 13.2 points and 7.4 rebounds.

The Skyforce's next game is on Thursday, Jan. 28 on the road against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. at Dodge Arena.
