Sky Blue FC News Release

Morristown, N.J. (Friday, March 13, 2015) - With the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) preseason in full swing, Sky Blue FC will play the first game of its 2015 Preview Series Presented by Meridian Health on Saturday afternoon. The New Jersey-based side will be playing St. John's University in the match, with a 2:00 p.m. kickoff scheduled at Wexler Field in Scotch Plains.

"We are still evaluating players and looking at some players in different positions, while also trying to establish a fitness base," said Jim Gabarra, Sky Blue FC Technical Director & Head Coach. "We will only have two outdoor sessions under our belts before the game, so that makes it a challenge for our players to adjust and learn how to play together. In some cases, players will play in positions where they are not necessarily comfortable, but that is all part of the evaluation process. Overall, it has been a good week, and we have gotten a lot done. Now, we look forward to playing this game and learning some lessons from it."

Admission for the match on Saturday afternoon will be free of charge, and all fans are encouraged to attend. Pre-game activities for the game will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Following the conclusion of this preseason opener, Sky Blue FC will play three more matches in March as part of its Preview Series Presented by Meridian Health. Next up for the team is a pairing with the University of North Carolina on Saturday, March 21st, where the two sides will play a 3:00 p.m. game at Mercer County Community College.

Sky Blue FC will open the NWSL regular season on the road when it travels to FC Kansas City on Sunday, April 12th. The team will play its home opener at Yurcak Field (Rutgers, Piscataway) on Saturday, April 18th, at 7:00 p.m. Season tickets are available now (10 home matches), with packages starting as low as $120.
