MORRISTOWN, NJ (October 25, 2013) - Sky Blue FC announced today that the club has agreed to send defender Caitlin Foord on loan to Sydney FC of the Australian W-League, the top flight level of competition in Australia. The loan agreement will run through March 1, 2014.

"Loaning Caitlin to Sydney FC is a positive for her development as a player," said Sky Blue FC Head Coach Jim Gabarra. "The timing is good as she is getting closer to full recovery from her foot injury. We all are really looking forward to seeing her back on the field."

Foord, 18, signed with Sky Blue FC on March 6, 2013 as a Discovery Player after previously playing for Sydney FC since 2010.

"It's real exciting to come back home and to be able to play in front of my friends and family," said Foord.

The loan will mark the return to active competition for the speedy defender, as she has been out since July with a foot injury.

"My rehab is going well," said Foord. "I'm in the gym and have been able to start running, so it's coming along well. I just can't wait to get back out training with the girls, which is hopefully in the next few weeks."

Foord began her international playing career in 2007, first representing her native country with its U-17 side. She then achieved her first cap with the full Australian National Team in May of 2011, scoring a goal in her debut performance against New Zealand. She quickly emerged as a top player for the senior side, being named to its FIFA World Cup roster later that year and making three starts in four games. Despite being just 16 at the time, she was named "Best Young Player" at the tournament.

Foord appeared in 15 matches for Sky Blue FC during 2013, starting every game in which she played, while logging 1,291 minutes and one assist.

The young Aussie was named to the NWSL Second XI squad for her efforts during the season.
