Morristown, N.J. (Friday, May 15, 2015) - Sky Blue FC (1-2-2, 5 points) heads to the Maryland SoccerPlex this weekend for a critical match-up against the Washington Spirit (2-2-1, 7 points), kicking off at 7:00 PM EST. The game marks the regular season finale between the two clubs, with the Spirit holding the advantage in the series after defeating Sky Blue FC in late April at Yurcak Field, 3-1.

"This is the last time we play Washington this season, so it is very important that we get three points," said Jim Gabarra, Sky Blue FC Technical Director & Head Coach. "When you look at the standings, it really shows you how great of an opportunity this game is for us, so we cannot afford to make the same mistakes that we made the first time we played them. We have to do a better job of creating chances and scoring goals. Saturday will be a nice day in a beautiful stadium, and we are looking forward to it."

In their first encounter of 2015, Spirit defender Crystal Dunn led the way for her side, registering a brace, while Sky Blue FC earned its lone tally in the contest on a Nadia Nadim to Katy Freels connection in the 62nd minute. The eventual result brought a Sky Blue FC franchise-record seven-match unbeaten streak to a close.

On the NWSL Table, Sky Blue FC trails Washington by just two points, so a win on Saturday night would elevate the New Jersey side past the Spirit in the standings. Sky Blue FC will look to carry over some momentum from a dramatic finish last weekend that saw the team earn a 90th minute penalty kick, which was then converted by Nadim to level a hard-fought match with Seattle Reign FC, 1-1.

Sky Blue FC will again be on the road next weekend before returning to Yurcak Field on Sunday, May 31st, to host the Houston Dash at 3:00 PM EST. Individual game tickets for that match are on sale now. Make sure you catch all of the world class NWSL action this season at Yurcak Field by calling 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849)!
