
Sky Blue FC Acquires Mallory Pugh from the Washington Spirit

Howell, NJ - Sky Blue FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) has acquired 2019 U.S. Women's National Team World Cup Champion & forward Mallory Pugh from the Washington Spirit in exchange for the 4th, 13th, and 17th overall selections in the 2020 NWSL College Draft as well as a 1st round 2021 Draft Pick.
Pugh, 21, joins Sky Blue FC after three seasons with the Spirit, finishing the 2019 regular season playing and starting in nine games, scoring two goals and notching two assists.
In 2018, Pugh scored two goals and notched one assist. She earned NWSL Team of the Month for March and April as well as NWSL Player of the Week honors in Week Two.
In her breakout rookie season, Pugh played in 16 games (13 starts) logging 1,203 minutes, six goals, and one assist. Pugh became the youngest scorer in NWSL history (19 years, 1 month, and four days) in a 2-0 win over the Houston Dash on June 3, 2017. She was named as a finalist for the NWSL Rookie of the Year.
Pugh earned her first cap with the U.S. Women's National Team at 17 years and 269 days old, making her the youngest player to debut for the USA in the last 11 years. On January 23, 2016, Pugh scored her first goal in her first cap against the Republic of Ireland. Pugh has 56 appearance, 16 goals, and 16 assists with the U.S. WNT.
Pugh is the youngest player to ever score for the United States in the Olympics, finding the back of the net on August 9, 2016, at the age of 18 in a 2-2 tie with Columbia.
