
Skip Flanagan Named Deaf Person of the Month

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME- 2013 Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide First Baseman/Outfielder Skip Flanagan has been named "Deaf Person of the Month" by renowned website www.DeafPeople.com .
Flanagan, a Junior at Rochester Institute of Technology and Framingham, Massachusetts native, joins a prestigious list made up of several community leaders and advocates as well as Professional Athletes (MLB Veteran Curtis Pride).
The honor comes less than three months after Flanagan received the prominent FCBL "Adam Keenan Sportsmanship and Scholarship Award." The Keenan Scholarship award is presented each season to the student athlete who shows an extraordinary commitment to the game of Baseball and exceptional behavior on and off the field.
Flanagan is coming off of a monumental Sophomore season at R.I.T which saw him lead his team in Batting Average (.353), Hits, (53) and 364 Putouts. Flanagan also helped lead the Raging Tide to their first ever playoff appearance this summer as the team advanced all the way to the league semi-finals.
Born deaf, Flanagan continues to set an example of hard work and perseverance. "I'm just truly grateful to be representing R.I.T and the deaf community, and I will continue doing the best I can to help others chase their dreams," said Flanagan.
