Simpson Gets Christmas Call-Up

Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers have announced that goalie Kent Simpson has been reassigned from the Thunder to the Sound Tigers by the Islanders.

Simpson, 22, receives the call after a 33-save win over the Idaho Steelheads last Saturday. The Edmonton, Alberta native has played a total of 11 games in the ECHL this season, 8 of which he played in a Thunder uniform.

During his time in Stockton Simpson has gone 4-3-1 bringing his year-to-date record to 5-5-1 as he began his season playing 3 games for the Colorado Eagles. He played his 50th career ECHL game on 12-13-14 against his former team the Eagles.

The former second round draft selection by the Chicago Blackhawks back in 2010, will head to Bridgeport for his second call-up to the AHL this season.

Simpson has played 34 AHL games in his career, all with the Blackhawks AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, posting a 12-15-2 record with a 3.58 goals-against-average and a .895 save-percentage.
