
Simon, O'Sullivan Homer as RiverHawks Rally for 8-6 Win

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks rallied three times and beat the Schaumburg Flyers, 8-6, on Tuesday at Alexian Field.
Randall Simon hit two home runs and Patrick O'Sullivan also homered for the RiverHawks, who have won three of their last four games. Chris Schultz homered for the Flyers and was a double short of the cycle on a 4-for-5 night.
The Flyers lost leads of 2-1, 4-2 and 6-5. Simon erased the first deficit with a leadoff liner over the right-field wall in the fourth inning. In the sixth, Simon and O'Sullivan lead off with back-to-back homers and Evan McArthur put the `Hawks in front, 5-4, with a RBI single to right.
Schultz helped the Flyers rally for their final lead. In the bottom of the sixth inning, he tripled and scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly. In the seventh inning, he singled in a two-out run.
Rockford took the lead for good with a three-run eighth inning. Kevin House doubled in two runs off reliever Ryan Gehring (0-2) and scored on Simon's sacrifice fly to center.
Adam Rowe (1-0) won in relief. Scott Roehl pitched a perfect ninth inning for his sixth save.
The start of the game was delayed 66 minutes because of afternoon rain.
The rubber match of the three-game series is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The RiverHawks host Olympian Jennie Finch and the Chicago Bandits of National Pro Fastpitch, a women's professional softball team, in the Battle of the Sexes at 7:05 p.m. Thursday. It's a Miller Lite/2nd Cousin's Dollar Beer Night. The game is scheduled for broadcast on ESPN 1380 and ESPN1380.com.
The RiverHawks are members of the Northern League, an eight-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 18th season this summer.
