Atlanta Silverbacks News Release
Atlanta, Ga. (May 16, 2013) - The Atlanta Silverbacks added a third goalkeeper to the roster this week, announcing the signing of goalkeeper CODY MIZELL, pending USSF approval.
Mizell, 21, comes to the Silverbacks following a successful career at Clemson University, where he made 50 starts and received several conference and national honors. Prior to playing for the Tigers, the 6-foot goalkeeper played club soccer locally with Concorde Fire. While playing for Woodstock High School, Mizell was the runner up for the Gatorade High School Player of the Year two years in row.
On the international stage, Mizell played for the U-17 and U-18 U.S. youth national teams, making a total of nine appearances across all competitions.
Mizell is the third goalkeeper on the Silverbacks' roster, and will dress for Saturday's home game against the Carolina RailHawks in place of the suspended Joe Nasco, who received a red card in the team's 3-0 loss to FC Edmonton last Sunday.
The Silverbacks and first-place RailHawks will kick off at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday at Atlanta Silverbacks Park. Tickets are still available, and can be purchased by calling 404-969-4900 or visiting atlantasilverbacksfc.com.
