Atlanta Silverbacks News Release
The Atlanta Silverbacks today announced a partnership with MundoHispánico, Georgia's oldest Spanish-language newspaper. The partnership will see MundoHispánico's logo appear on the official game shorts of San Diego Silverbacks as well as on the official game jersey of the Atlanta Silverbacks Reserves.
"As the voice of Georgia's Hispanic community since 1979, we recognize that soccer is in the hearts and minds of the community we serve. We're delighted to partner with the Silverbacks to bring top flight soccer to our readers," Lino Dominguez, publisher of MundoHispánico.
"Our partnership with MundoHispánico has continued to expand for the past two years. This is a great growing partnership that truly reflects both companies' passion with being involved in the Hispanic community at the local level," commented Laura Fedrigo, Silverbacks Director of Marketing.
Both San Diego Silverbacks and the Atlanta Silverbacks Reserves compete for the Atlanta Silverbacks' Amateur Club. The amateur club consists of 15 teams, four women's teams and 11 men's team, which play in amateur leagues around the Atlanta area. San Diego joined the Silverbacks' Amateur Club a year and half ago and plays in Liga Lawrenceville, the city's largest men's amateur league. Since joining the Silverbacks' Amateur Club, San Diego has won the last two Liga Lawrenceville regular season titles, along with the inaugural Silverbacks Champions League title in 2005 and the Copa Hispana Winter Tournament in February 2006. The team is supported by Senobio Rivera and coached by Rodrigo Rios and Felipe Quintero of the Silverbacks USL First Division Team.
The Silverbacks Reserves play in the First Division of the ADASL (Atlanta District Amateur Soccer League) and currently sit at the top of the table with a 9-0 record. The Reserves have won the ADASL title for the past two seasons and have had success in tournaments as well. The team won the Georgia State Cup in 2005 and has won the ADASL Perrin cup for past two years. This year, the Reserves have advanced through to the quarterfinals in their run for a third consecutive title. The team is managed by Tony Anglin.
