NASL FC Edmonton

Silverbacks Come to Town for Fourth and Final Match

September 6, 2011 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
FC Edmonton News Release

With just three games left in the regular season, every match seems to be a must-win for FC Edmonton.

The team gave itself a little bit of breathing room on Saturday by beating the NSC Minnesota Stars 3-1, who were just one point back of FC Edmonton going in to the game.

Thanks to the win, Edmonton now has a two point cusion between fourth and the fifth place Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

On Wednesday night the Atlanta Silverbacks come to town (Kick Off @ 7:30 p.m./www.fcedmonton.com/Team 1260) and the home team is hoping for more of the same success they've enjoyed against the Silverbacks this season.

The two teams have played three games against each other and FC Edmonton has yet to concede a goal in three wins.

An FC Edmonton win combined with a Montreal Impact loss agains the Puerto Rico Islanders would gaurantee Edmonton a playoff spot. FC Edmonton is just one point back of Tampa Bay (who play this evening) and could still finish as high as third in its inaugural NASL season.

A home playoff date is certainly the goal at this point in the season.

Influential centre-back Paul Hamilton has served his one-game suspension and will be available for selection for tomorrow night's game.
