Silverbacks Celebrate Cinco De Mayo Saturday Night

The Atlanta Silverbacks squad will celebrate their 2007 Cinco de Mayo holiday on the soccer field; the team hosts the Carolina RailHawks this Saturday night (5.5.07) at 7:55 pm at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium. For the league-leading Silverbacks, every game counts in remaining frontrunners at this early stage in the season. The 'Backs came out of last weekend with four important points that carried the team to the top of the USL First Division table.

The Silverbacks, 1-0-2, and the RailHawks, 0-1-2, first met just last weekend at SAS Stadium in Cary, NC. The two teams played an intense 90 minutes to a 0-0 draw and the rematch this weekend will prove to be an exciting display between two very talented teams.

The Silverbacks' Daniel Antoniuk had two assists last weekend in Atlanta's 3-1 win over Minnesota and two goals in Atlanta's home-opener the previous weekend. Antoniuk's six points put him in first place in the USL point ranking; his two goals put him tied for first place in the USL goal ranking; his two assists put him tied for first place in the USL goal ranking. Along with Antoniuk, Machel Millwood is tied for first place in the league with two assists. Millwood's four points put him tied for third place in the point ranking. The Silverbacks will look to Antoniuk and Millwood to continue their dominance up top in this weekend's match.
