Atlanta Silverbacks News Release
ATLANTA - The Atlanta Silverbacks will hold four combines for the 2012 season, the club announced Tuesday. Soccer players interested in playing for the professional team are invited to register for the combine, which will be held over the next several months at Atlanta Silverbacks Park.
Three separate open combines will take place on December 2-4, January 20-22, and February 17-19. Any prospective professional interested in participating in an open combine should submit a completed application form, signed waiver, and $200 fee at least 10 days in advance of the combine. Each participant in the open combine will receive a full uniform kit, provided by Saeta, the official apparel partner of the Atlanta Silverbacks; participants will also receive a written evaluation from the Silverbacks coaching staff.
A separate U-19 combine, exclusively for soccer players born in 1992 or later, will take place December 16-18. To participate in this combine, soccer players must submit the U-19 application and waiver at least 10 days in advance. There is no fee for the U-19 combine.
"This is a great opportunity for young players to take a big step in their career, and it's also a good way for experienced players to get evaluated, while also being considered for next year's Silverbacks roster," said Director of Soccer Rodrigo Rios, who will oversee the combines, along with the Silverbacks' coaching staff. "We'll be looking for players who have the skills and the mindset to help us improve."
At last year's open combine, the Silverbacks signed several current players, including defenders Tyler Ruthven, Kohei Matsushita, and Patrick Robertson, along with midfielder Jose Parada and forward Jon Cox.
