October 19, 2007 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1)
Southeast Texas Mavericks News Release

The RGV Silverados announced today the signing of one of the top guards in professional basketball not playing in the NBA. Mike Dean is considered as one of the top guards in professional basketball today. The 6'4 Dean played collegiately at Middle Tennessee State University and at the University of Georgia.

After beginning his collegiate career at Georgia as one of Coach Jim Harrick's prize recruits, Dean transferred to MTSU after his freshman season. At Middle Tennessee under Coach Kermit Davis Dean flourished and became an All-Sun Belt All-Conference performer his junior and senior seasons.

After finishing his collegiate career Dean played professionally both in the United States and abroad establishing himself as a premiere player on the professional basketball level.

During the Spring/Summer of 2006 Dean established himself back in the USA as he dominated in the World Basketball Association (WBA). He averaged 29.7ppg and shot over 90% from the free-throw line as he led Cartersville, GA to the Championship Game of the WBA where they lost in double overtime to the Rome Gladiators. Dean was the WBA's Regular Season and Post-Season MVP.

Last season Dean averaged 15.7ppg as a starting guard for the Bakersfield Jam in the NBA D League. His season was cut short when a serious ankle injury sidelined Dean in January for the remainder of the 2006-07season.

Once again in the Spring/Summer Dean dominated for the Floyd County Rage (GA) in the WBA. In the 2007 season Dean scored over 50 points on two occasions, while once again leading the WBA in scoring with a 30.1ppg average. Dean was once again voted First Team All-WBA after another banner season.

"In signing Mike Dean, we get a proven high level performer on the professional level. Mike is truly an outstanding shooter! He can really stroke it! I think the basketball fans here in the Valley are in for a real treat in watching Mike Dean play!" States coach Steve Tucker.

Dean will report with 17 other players that will make up the RGV Silverados Veterans Training Camp that will open on November 2nd when the Silverados begin practice sessions. The Silverados tip-off their season on November 17th at the new McAllen Convention Center when they host the Oklahoma Cavalry, who are coached by former NBA star, Michael Ray Richardson.
