August 6, 2007 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1)
Southeast Texas Mavericks News Release

The RGV Silverados Professional Basketball Franchise will be holding a Press Conference at the Cornerstone Grill & Restaurant at 2702 Cornerstone Blvd, Edinburg 78539 off of McColl on Tuesday afternoon, August 7th at 5:30pm to officially announce their move to the Continental Basketball Association (CBA).

Representation from the CBA will be in attendance as will Silverados Ownership and Staff. One on One interviews and photo opportunities will be available.

The Continental Basketball Association (CBA) is the Oldest & Most Prestigious Professional Basketball League in the United States. It's origins date farther back than the National Basketball Association (NBA) to 1946, and the CBA has been recognized for many years as the premiere developmental professional basketball league in the USA. For years the CBA was the official developmental league for the NBA, but in the mid-1990's the CBA & NBA ended that relationship. Within basketball circles the CBA remains the best league outside of and below the NBA for developing prospective players, coaches, officials, and staff who aspire for careers in professional basketball. Coaches like Phil Jackson, Flip Saunders, George Karl, Bill Musselman, and many more started their professional coaching careers in the CBA. NBA Players Bruce Bowen, Mario Elie, and Raja Bell to name a few developed their skills early in their pro basketball careers in the CBA. The CBA is a true league of opportunity that continues its tradition of excellence and legacy today in professional basketball.
