Silver Spur to Conduct Dance Auditions

(6/23/03) Applications are now being accepted for the 2003-2004 Laredo Bucks Dance Team. Auditions will be held July 19 and 20 at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Applications are available in the LEC administrative offices. The registration deadline is Monday, July 14. "Just like our players became role models for the youth of Laredo, our dance team served as fine examples for young girls in our community," says Bucks Game/Promotions Director Mario Mecaroni. "Our goal is to put together a program that will give talented local infividuals the opportunity to stay in Laredo and still be a part of a professional sporting organization."
The Bucks are pleased to introduce Tanya Sanders-Garza as the Dance Team Choreographer. Sanders-Garza is a graduate of United High School in Laredo. She served as a member of San Antonio's Silver Spurs from 1992-1999. Sanders-Garza says, "As the new choreographer, my #1 goal is to strive for improvement and advance the Dancers to the next level of performance. I plan to bring plenty of enthusiasm and excitement to the Dancers, as well as the Laredo community." Prior to joining the Spurs, Sanders-Garza was a Larriette Captain at United and Dance Team Chapparal at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She also spent six years as the Dance Team Director at John Jay High School.
"It's time to build on last season's talented dance team and take it to the next level," adds Mecaroni. "We've taken the first step in that direction by bringing in Tanya."
A limited number of applications will be accepted. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma. Previous dance/cheer experience is not required. Auditions will begin promptly at 8:00am on Saturday, July 19 at the Laredo Entertainment Center.
