South Bend Silver Hawks News Release

South Bend, IN – The South Bend Silver Hawks, who reached the 2004 Eastern Division Championship Series of the Midwest League, announced their schedule for the 2005 campaign.

The Silver Hawks will open the 2005 season with a four game homestand April 7th through April 10th against division rivals, the Dayton Dragons. The Silver Hawks get an early test when they hit the road to face 2004 Midwest League playoff participants, the Lansing Lugnuts, for three games, before returning home to face Battle Creek. After an eight game road trip to Fort Wayne and Kane County, the Hawks close the month of April with a four game series versus the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

During the Silver Hawks 70 games at Stanley Coveleski Regional Stadium, there will be several promotional dates' fans and families can mark on their calendar. The popular Dollar Monday will return to The Cove this spring and summer, with all fans getting into the game and enjoying beer, hot dogs and Pepsi products for just one dollar. The first of 13 Dollar Monday games of 2005 is April 18th, when the Hawks host Battle Creek.

On May 4th, the Silver Hawks will shift their schedule and play a 9:30 AM game when they host the Clinton LumberKings. The shift in time will allow those who are third shift workers to get to a ballgame.

On May 11th and 25th, the Silver Hawks will offer their 12th consecutive DARE Day games to local students. Schools around Michiana will be treated to morning baseball, when the Kane County Cougars and Burlington Bees make their way to The Cove. The start time for both DARE games is 10:30 AM.

July is the Silver Hawks busiest month during the 2005 season. In the month, they will play 29 games with 18 of them to be played at The Cove, including the annual fireworks show after each game July 1-3. Those dates are part of a four game homestand the Silver Hawks will have from June 30-July 3, before going to Burlington for a four game set and a day off for the Major League All-Star game. South Bend returns home July 16th to play 11 of its remaining 15 games when they open a four game series against the West Michigan Whitecaps.

The stretch run of August and September finds the Silver Hawks playing their last twelve games on the road. The 27th of August is set for the annual Pops At The Cove concert, featuring the South Bend Symphony Orchestra and its conductor Tsung Yeh.

The Silver Hawks will close the 2005 home campaign with an eight game homestand against the Peoria Chiefs and Dayton Dragons, August 15-August 22.

Start times for Silver Hawks will remain the same. April and May will have start times of 6:30 PM, while June through the end of the season will have start times beginning at 7 PM. Sunday afternoon contests will begin at 1:30 PM.
