(Rochester, Minn.) - The Rochester Honkers have announced the signing of David Noworyta, a redshirt junior from the University of Hawaii. Noworyta was drafted in the 37th round by the Kansas City Royals in 2014.
Noworyta is a 6-foot-4 200-pound catcher who is returning for his second season with the Honkers. In 2017, Noworyta was one of 10 recipients of the Northwoods League's 2017 Rawlings 'Finest in the Field' award, which acknowledges the top fielder at each position. In 41 games with the Honkers, Noworyta hit .273, drew 30 walks and scored 21 runs. Throughout his three seasons at Hawaii, Noworyta is hitting .278 and has two RBIs.
Noworyta is from Hainesport, N.J. and played high school ball at Holy Cross Academy. He finished his senior season hitting .320 with 13 RBIs and 13 runs scored. He was named first-team All-Burlington County. His father Steve currently serves as an Assistant Director for Player Development for the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Rochester Honkers 25th season begins on Tuesday, May 29th when the team hosts the Eau Claire Express in their home opener at Mayo Field at 7:05 pm. 5-Game Packs and Kids Club Memberships are available now!
