
Sidewinders Take Road Finale

Las Vegas, NV - Jamie D'Antona drove in three runs and the Sidewinders scored seven times in the top of the eighth inning on their way to a 10-4 win over the Las Vegas 51's on Sunday afternoon. The win concludes the Sidewinders road schedule for 2007.
D'Antona's two run home run to left gave the Sidewinders a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and they stretched it to 3-0 on Carlos Gonzalez's RBI double in the third.
Greg Smith worked five innings and allowed just one run to earn his fourth win. Smith gave up three hits and walked three while striking out two.
Tucson put the game away with seven runs in the eighth. Matt Erickson had a RBI single, Ronnie Merrill drove in two with a double, D'Antona singled in a run and Carlos Gonzalez and Carlos Quentin each walked with the bases loaded. Another run scored on Marshall McDougall's throwing error to give the Sidewinders a 10-1 lead.
Tucson finished their road schedule with a record of 35-36.
The Sidewinders return home on Monday night for their final homestand of the 2007 season beginning with a four game series with the Portland Beavers. Right-hander Enrique Gonzalez (7-9, 4.83) starts for Tucson against left-hander Casey Fossum (0-0, 2.08) for Portland. First pitch is at 7:00. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 6:45.
