
Sidewinders battle Wildcats to a 4-2 win

A determined Sidewinders squad was equal to a gritty performance from the University of Arizona Wildcats, edging the amateur team by a score of 4-2.
Sidewinders RHP Dustin Nippert put together three scoreless innings, giving up one hit, a wild pitch. He struck out two batters and did not give up a walk.
Lorenzo Bundy, taking the place of the Chip Hale for the game, handed the ball to Brandon Medders to start the 4th inning. Junior 1BBill Rhinehard smacked a 2 run double just out of the reach of 1B Chris Carter to give the University of Arizona the lead.
The Sidewinders came back to tie it in the bottom of the 5th when Jerry Gil scored on a Cory Burns wild pitch. Juan Brito came around to plate the equalizer on a groundball to first, hit by 2B Alberto Callaspo.
Tucson took the lead in the bottom of the 7th thanks to DH Chris Young, who grounded into a 64 fielders choice, allowing Brian Barden to score from 3 rd. Gil, playing center, added an RBI to put the sidewinders up 4-2.
RHP Casey Daigle pitched one scoreless inning to earn a win. On the losing end, Daniel Schlereth worked one inning, allowing two runs on one hit and two walks while striking out one. Jeff Bajenaru closed out the game with a scoreless inning to earn the save
