Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Fayetteville SwampDogs dropped a heartbreaker 5-3 to the Petersburg Generals Thursday night at J.P. Riddle Stadium.
SwampDogs starter Billy Elliott (Soph./Pitt.-Greensburg) got knocked around for three runs in his two innings of work, before giving way to Alex Siddle (Jr./Southeast Missouri).
Siddle would be a horse for the SwampDogs, tossing 6.2 innings in relief, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out eight Generals batters in the process.
The SwampDogs, meanwhile would chip away at the Generals lead with runs in the second, fifth and seventh innings, but couldn't muster enough to get over the hump.
Elliott got the loss, falling to 0-1 on the year, while the win went to Conner Andrews, who struck out nine in his six innings of work.
The SwampDogs (14-21) hit the road to take on the Lexington County Blowfish Friday night before returning home Saturday for the 9th annual StriKing Out Cancer Night presented by the Cape Fear Valley Health System. For tickets call 910-426-5900.
