CHARLOTTE, NC (November 30, 2010) - Fayetteville's Rob Sich broke the SPHL record for goals in a career Saturday night, scoring once in the FireAntz 4-3 loss to Augusta.
Sich, a seventh-year pro from LaSalle, Ontario, scored his 223rd SPHL goal at the 10:32 mark of the first period, surpassing the previous mark of 222 held by former Knoxville Ice Bear Kevin Swider.
Sich, who scored a league-record 63 goals last year, has averaged 41 goals per season during his SPHL career. With 16 goals in 16 games, Sich currently leads the SPHL in goals, something he has done three previous times (2006-07, 2008-09, 2009-10).
