Florida Seals News Release

RICHMOND, Va. - When the Florida Seals and Richmond Renegades met Friday night at the Richmond Coliseum, the visitors were looking to break their own four game losing streak while stopping Richmond's five game winning march.

Despite two goals and an assist from Rob Sich, it was the home-standing Renegades who rode the two goal performance of Danny White to a 6-3 victory.

The Seals entered the contest 0-3 on the road this season and things didn't start off well. Just 2:20 into the first period, Andre Gill got to a loose puck and fed White who beat Florida goalie Matt Balser.

Florida then began to take over the period. They evened the score at 1-1 when Tim Vitek set up Dan Pszenyczny for a power play goal and his first goal as a Seal. With three minutes left in the stanza, Sich fed line mate Justin Keller in the slot. Keller's shot was tipped by Sich past Richmond net minder Jay Chrapala to put Florida in front.

The lead lasted just 1:35 as during another man advantage, the Seals mishandled the puck in their defensive end. White was in the right place, picking up the loose puck and firing it home to knot the score at 2-2. Florida out shot Richmond 15-8 in the period but had little to show for it on the scoreboard.

Richmond came out in the second period with more energy than they had started the game with. Dean Jackson gave the Renegades the lead back with a power play goal three minutes in. Two minutes later, Sich got his second of the night on yet another deflection.

That would be the closest the Seals would get for the rest of the evening. Tyler Schremp put the Gades in front to stay with a slap shot from the face off circle at the 7:04 mark. That was followed at 12:13 by Gill stick handling along the goal line to the front of the Seals' net and flipping a backhander home just inside the post.

With a 5-3 lead going into the final period, Richmond added to the margin two minutes in when Phillip Youngclaus ripped a shot that Balser got a piece of but could not completely stop before it rolled in. Chrapala made the lead stand up, making several key saves, including stopping Vitek on a clean breakaway.

For the game, Chrapala recorded 33 saves while Balser stopped 20 of the shots he faced.

The Seals get right back on their bus and head to Knoxville, Tennessee for a game Saturday night against the Ice Bears.
