HIDALGO, TEXAS --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL), in union with First National Bank, today unveiled details of the new First National Bank Killer Bee Check Card by MasterCard.
"First National Bank is excited to partner with the Killer Bees and exclusively offer the first Free Killer Bee checking account and themed debit card in the Valley," said Robert Gandy III, President and CEO of First National Bank. "The account offers Killer Bee fans access to special benefits they are sure to enjoy as Killer Bee account holders."
Fans can sign up for a First National Bank Killer Bee Check Card at any Rio Grande Valley branch of the bank. Representatives will also be on hand at Killer Bees home games to sign up new accounts. The account requires a $100 minimum deposit to open and is otherwise free. There is no minimum balance to maintain or monthly service fees. Online banking, Killer Bee logo checks, unlimited check writing, mobile banking, eDocs and FNB ATM transactions are all free.
"We're excited and honored to partner with First National Bank on this project," Killer Bees General Manager Grant W. Buckborough said. "As far as we know, we're the first CHL team to have our own check card. More importantly, we're pleased to cement a true partnership with First National Bank. They've been a big supporter of ours and this is a reflection of the commitment we both have. We're also excited to bring part of our corporate family together with some of the offshoots of the program."
The First National Bank Killer Bees Check Card offers holders discounts at select Valley merchants. When paying for purchases with the card at the following merchants, customers receive a 10% discount; Killer Bees Pro Shop, Jackson's All American Sports Grill, Outback Steakhouse, Eyear Optical and Young Chef's Academy (special events and merchandise).
The Bees open their sixth season at Dodge Arena on October 18 vs. the Rocky Mountain Rage. The first 1000 kids through the doors will receive a Killer Bees jersey courtesy San Juan Pharmacy and KRGV NEWSCHANNEL 5.
Single game tickets for the 2008-09 season, including the team's preseason game vs. Laredo (October 10), are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets including the Dodge Arena Box Office. Season tickets are available now by calling 956-843-PUCK (7825).
