Tri-City Diesel News Release


The Tri-City DieselÂ’s struggles continued as they were downed by the St. Louis Show Me Believers 45-35.

Turnovers and special teams seemed to be difference in the game as the Diesel turned the ball over twice with one resulting in a 40 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown for St. Louis.

Offensively, the Diesel put in a solid performance as they gained 275 yards compared to St. LouisÂ’s 168. Diesel quarterback Roger Linn was 13 of 29 for 152 yards and two touchdowns, receiver Dustin Morgan hauled in 4 catches for 79 yards while Tyrone Thomas and Greg Lathan each had catches for touchdowns. Running back Sherman Jones picked up 84 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries while Linn also ran for 41 yards and a touchdown.

St. Louis quarterback Steve Bohlken was 11 for 18 for 130 yards including three touchdowns and one interception. Scott Pingel had five catches for 72 yards and three touchdowns, Don Brown was their leading rusher with 31 yards on 10 carries.

Defensively, the Diesel were lead by Mark Hays with 10 tackles followed by Paul Stolberg and Brian Smith with six each and Charles Verdone having the only interception of the game. St. Louis was lead by Donavon LaVines with 16 tackles including a sack and two forced fumbles.

The Diesel take a two game road trip to play the Wyoming Calvary and the Omaha Beef and then return home again to play the Bismarck Rough Riders on Saturday, May 24th. Tickets and information may be picked up at the Tri-City Arena box office or by calling (308) 338-8011.
