Three Things You Need to Know

1.) First Place Showdown- The league's top two point producers in the early going meet for the second straight game as the Tulsa Oilers (3-2-1) battle the Allen Americans (4-1-0) at the Allen Event Center on Friday night. The Americans topped the Oilers 6-4 on Halloween behind two goals from Brian McMillin and three points from Anthony Maiani (1-2=3). Allen is still unbeaten on home ice winning their first three games while outscoring the opposition 14-7. The two clubs will head up the road to Tulsa for a rematch on Saturday night in the BOK Center. The match-ups will feature the top two goal scorers in the league in Tulsa's Michel Beausoleil and Allen's Scotty Howes who each have five goals in the early part of the season.

2.) Getting to Know You- This weekend features a pair of match-ups that will see the teams spending the entire weekend getting familiar with each other. The Quad City Mallards (2-1-0) and the Bloomington Blaze (3-1-0) square off three straight times with Friday's game in Bloomington and Saturday's and Sunday's in Moline. The Missouri Mavericks (2-1-1) and the Wichita Thunder (1-3-1) meet three straight times as well with games in Wichita on Friday and Sunday and the Mavericks home opener slated for Saturday night. The Thunder has lost three straight games (0-2-1), while the Mavs earned points in three if their four games on their recently completed road trip.

3.) Monthly Stars- The Easton CHL Player of the Month and the Warrior CHL Goaltender of the Month were announced on Thursday with Bloomington's Jon Booras taking home the player honor and Allen's Steve Silverthorn being recognized as the month's top netminder. Booras had three goals and seven assists while Silverthorn had four wins with a 2.40 goals against average. The 50/50 Central CHL Rookie of the Month will be announced on Friday and the Oakley Three Stars of the Month will be announced on Monday.

By the Numbers

7: The number of points that both Ryan Menei and Ben Gordon have scored this season for the Tulsa Oilers during each player's six-game point streak. Both scorers have recorded at least a point in each of the Oilers first six games reflecting the longest point streaks in the CHL so far this season. Menei has two goals and five assists during his streak and Gordon has four goals and three helpers.

One-Timers

-The Arizona Sundogs travel to Rapid City to play the Rush in a pair of games this weekend. The Sundogs beat the Rush in the final game of the 2011-12 regular season snapping a 15-game slide against Rapid City. Arizona has not won in Rapid City since October 23, 2009, a stretch of 10 straight games.

-Wichita forward Greger Hanson and Rapid City forward Jordan Baker lead all rookies with seven points apiece. Hanson has two goals and five assists and Baker has four goals and three assists.

-Sundogs goalie David Brown made 29 saves in Wednesday's shutout win over Fort Worth earning the netminder a 2.00 GAA for the season (lowest in the CHL). Brown and Allen's Steve Silverthorn have the only two shutouts so far this season.

-The Bloomington Blaze are 6 for 19 on the season with the man advantage carrying the CHL's top power play at 31.6%. Impressively for the Blaze, six different players have recorded a PP goal.

-The Missouri Mavericks have been the best team in the CHL in the third period this season outscoring the opposition 6-2 (+4). Quad City is the only team yet to find the back of the net in the final frame getting outscored 3-0.

-The Thunder have outshot their opponents in all five of their games this season but have just one win to show for it (1-3-1). Wichita has been a bit slow to start giving up the game's first goal in four of their five games.
