Rapid City Rush News Release
(Denver, CO) - For the third-straight game, the Rapid City Rush and Denver Cutthroats needed a shootout to determine a winner on Sunday night. The Rush were forced to play with a short bench after sustaining numerous injuries in the game, and managed to come away with a point with a 2-1 shootout loss. Rookie Scott Brannon collected his first career goal and Danny Battochio made 34 saves in his second game back from injury. The Rush now head home for a pair of games against the Bloomington Blaze on Friday and Saturday, November 31st and December 1st. Tickets are available by calling the Rush office at 716-7825 or online 24-hours a day at gotmine.com.
It took until the 4:22 mark of the second period, but the Rush notched the first goal of the game. On a three-on-two rush, Rapid City rookie Scott Brannon carried the puck to the right faceoff circle where he roofed a wrist shot to the short side for his first professional goal.
Rapid City's lead lasted until the 5:55 mark of the third when Gabriel Beaupre's shot from the left point made its way through a screen while on the powerplay, forcing extra time.
The Cutthroats swept the shootout, converting on all three chances while the Rush could not find the net behind Kieran Millan who earned the 2-1 win.
