Shorthanded Riptide Drop Final Game of Series 6-1

June 3, 2007 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF)
New England Riptide News Release

Fairfax, VA- A 2.5 hour rain delay put a damper on the Riptide's chances to even up the series with the Washington Glory last night in Fairfax. With Eileen Canney not available, Danielle Henderson out with a strained back, and Erica Beach and Jackie Pasquerella (third base) having to catch evening flights out of Washington, the pitching duties were left to Jocelyn Forest. Forest gave it a good run and with the scored tied 1-1 after three innings, the game went into another rain delay of 45 minutes. Forest was forced to return, but ran out of gas, having started two of the three previous games. The Glory scored five runs in the fourth, topped off with a homerun by Oli Keohohou, to put the game away 6-1.

Desiree Serrano pitched the complete game for the Glory and gave up one run while scattering five hits. The Riptide were on the ball all night, but could not get the ball to drop. The Riptide scored their only run with two outs in the third when Carri Martin singled and was doubled home by Lyndsey Angus. The Riptide come home today before heading out to Rockford to play a four game series with the Thunder next weekend. The Riptide should be near full strength, picking up Eileen Canney, Garland Cooper and Lisa Modglin for the year. Henderson is also expected to be ready to go for the series.
