Lafayette Aviators News Release
Terre Haute, IN- The Lafayette Aviators (19-15) lost to the Terre Haute Rex (17-17) in a seven-inning game on Saturday night. Saturday was supposed to be a doubleheader but game two was postponed due to lightening.
Terre Haute jumped on Lafayette with a solitary run in the third inning from a ground ball to score Justin Jenkins from third. The Aviators starter Nathaniel Tate (East Tennessee State) gave The Flyboys a great start on the hill, going five innings and only allowing two runs on five hits.
Lafayette tied the game at 1-1 in the fifth with a pair of singles from Zach Heeke (Central Michigan) and Trey Sweeney (Eastern Illinois). After Matt Phipps (Western Kentucky) drew a walk and Heeke hit himself on base, Sweeney brought in Phipps from third base.
