Portland Shockwave News Release

(Portland, OR – Jefferson High School) In an astounding 63-0 win over the Oregon Unforgiven, The Portland Shockwave continued their winning season on Mother's Day this weekend.

With their only season loss thus far behind them and nearly forgotten, the Shockwave ran all over the Unforgiven defense to score in nearly every on field possesion of the game. The win for some was accentuated by Mother's Day, and even through the heat of the day the players were strong. The game proved a valuable opportunity for the players to gain some positive numbers in the stat books, adding to already amazing defensive numbers put up by players such as Rebecca Dawson and Meredith Vanden Berg. The offensive passing game was also finally aired, lending to the growing credibility of the already amazing Quarterback Nikki Becker.

The Shockwave will finish off their season on the road in Boise against the Xtreme next week and the Tacoma Majestics 2 weeks after that, with expectations of reaching the league finals Saturday, June 15 (location TBA). Tune in to KPTV Oregon's News Channel 12 for a special interest story on the Shockwave tonight, May 13, 2002 at 10pm.
