Shockwave complete second scrimmage; season opener around corner

With two successful training camp intra-squad scrimmages behind them, the San Diego Shockwave are on the verge of breaking camp, ready for their March 31st season opener which kicks off at Cox Arena on March 31st.
"It's been a good, competitive camp and we're expecting some great things from this team," says Shockwave head coach Bob Bees. "Offensively we look sharp. QB Roman Ybarra (6-3, 208 lbs., Idaho State) had a good scrimmage throwing two touchdown passes on two drives."
One was to speedy Nakoa McElrath (6-2, 195 lbs. Washington State University and Scripps Ranch H.S.); the other to former PAC-10 star Deondre Alexander (6-2, 210 lbs., Oregon State University).
Former San Diego State University (SDSU) Aztec greats Rico Curtis (6-1, 230 lbs) and Kevin Burton (6-0, 195 lbs.) continue to shine defensively. Similar to his playing days, defensive coordinator Montra Edwards has assembled a stingy unit. "Rico Curtis continues to perform well; leading a defense that made three stops out of six offensive possessions," says Edwards.
DB's Darren Booker, (5-11, 195 lbs.) who played for Lou Holtz at the University of South Carolina and Steve Terrill (6-1, 205 lbs.) from New Mexico Highlands have both impressed with their hard-hitting style and nose for the ball.
Other local talent includes University of San Diego's OG Josh Sanders (6-4, 280 lbs.) and former Aztec, C Eder Erosema (6-3, 270 lbs.)
Single game, season and group tickets and packages are on sale for the Shockwave's inaugural season. The home season kicks off next Saturday, March 31st at 7:05 p.m. against the Los Angeles Lynx at Cox Arena on the campus at SDSU.
