Central Valley Coyotes News Release
Fresno-Despite a second half comeback attempt by the Central Valley Coyotes, the Spokane Shock retain their unblemished record with a 42-40 victory.
Shock Wide Receiver Raul Vijil put forth a stellar effort in the win, as he hauled in 11 catches for 135 yards and three receiving touchdowns. He also added a touchdown via a 58 yard kickoff return. Vijil's performance earned him the Shutt Offensive Player of the Game award, as well as, JLS Ironman of the Game honors.
The Coyotes, who trailed by 21 points at the half, made a strong comeback attempt in the fourth quarter but were stopped short on a 2-point conversion to tie the game with just 6.5 seconds left.
Coyotes quarterback Joe Ayoob had a solid day, going 24 of 44 passing for 244 yards and five touchdowns. Ayoob added another touchdown on the ground, but in the end it was too little too late for Central Valley. The Coyotes dropped their home opener for the first time since 2004 and head to Tri-Cities to take on the Fever next Saturday. The Coyotes fall to 2-2 as the Shock stay a perfect 4-0 on the season.
