
Shock Host Inaugural Kids' Day July 17

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - The Detroit Shock will host their inaugural Kids' Day presented by Subway on Sunday, July 17 when they host the Indiana Fever at 5:00 p.m. at The Palace.
Randomly selected kids between the ages of eight and 14 will job shadow members of the Shock staff, "working" in various capacities around the arena. The first 2,500 kids 14 and under through the doors will receive a Ruth Riley #00 jersey compliments of Subway and kids will be allowed to shoot a free throw on the court after the game. All kids 14 and under are eligible for a half price ticket.
Kids selected to participate in Kids' Day will be assigned a supervisor and will "work" in various positions including PA announcers, arena hosts/hostesses, court-sweepers, Fan Fotographers, ticket-takers and more. Five lucky kids will also be selected to fill the shoes of the Shock starting five in a pre-game ceremony. Kids interested in the starting five positions must submit a photo along with their applications to one of the addresses below. Kids must be available to "punch-in" at 3:00 p.m. and will work through the first 10 minutes of the game.
All kids interested in participating must submit a "job application" by email to the Detroit Shock at kidsday@palacenet.com or by mail to: Shock Kids' Day, The Palace of Auburn Hills, Four Championship Drive, Auburn Hills, MI 48326. Kids will be notified of their job status by July 13, 2005.
One entry per person please and entries must be postmarked by Friday, July 8, 2005 to be considered. Job applications must include the following: Child's First and Last Name, Child's Age, Legal Guardian's Full Name, Address, Day Phone, Emergency Contact Number and Email Address.
As "payment" for their hard work, participants will receive two tickets to the game, free parking and a goodie-bag including concession vouchers. Family members of participants and those children not selected to participate in the job shadow will also have the opportunity to take advantage of a special discounted ticket offer.
