Norfolk SharX News Release

Baltimore, Maryland - The Norfolk SharX fell to the Baltimore Blast 18-10 Friday night at 1st Mariner Arena but not before staging a mid-game comeback to keep the Blast honest.

Down 8-0 midway through the second half on goals by Carlos Garcia, Machel Millwood, JT Noone and Mike Lookingland, Norfolk came to life and finally got on the board on a beautiful goal by Matthew Delicate with an assist by Tennant McVey. Norfolk was awarded a corner kick and Blast keeper Akira Fitzgerald blocked the initial kick to McVey who found Delicate wide open in front of the goal to make it 8-2 at the end of the first half.

Even though the Blast's Max Ferdinand scored first in the second half to make it 10-2 the SharX came firing back scoring five unanswered points to bring the SharX to within three at 10-7 on a three-point strike by Miguel Ferrer and a goal by McVey. Ferrer's goal now puts him a tie for the lead in the MISL for the most 3-point goals scored with four. Noone then scored his second goal of the night and the third quarter ended 12-7.

Adauto Neto and Millwood opened up the scoring in the final period to take Baltimore up 16-7 but Norfolk forward Cecil Lewis added a three-point goal of his own on a power play to bring the SharX closer at 16-10. But Baltimore answered again on Lookingland's second goal to end the game 18-10.

This match was a lot more competitive than our last one against Baltimore," said head coach Jon Hall. "We competed very well except for the first ten minutes. When our team decided that it was good enough and that the game wasn't over, we played them even the rest of the way. We don't want to take anything away from Baltimore though. They are a very good team."

The SharX return home to Norfolk Scope Arena on Sunday, January 29, to host Rochester at 2 p.m. For more information about the Norfolk SharX, Norfolk's newest professional sports team, including sponsorships, tickets, internships or to volunteer, please call 757-419-3317 or visit www.norfolksharx.com.
