Rochester Lancers News Release
(Rochester, NY) The Rochester Lancers (7-9) will travel for a pair of matches this weekend beginning on Saturday, January 28th to face the Baltimore Blast (11-4) in a key Eastern Division matchup beginning at 7:35 p.m. The club will follow Saturday's match with a 2:00 p.m. matinee against the Norfolk SharX (3-13) in Virginia on Sunday.
Saturday's match is a crucial one for the Lancers and their push for the postseason. Currently the second place Lancers trail first place Baltimore by 4.5 games, however they lead the Syracuse Silver Knights by 1.5 games with a game in-hand. With Syracuse traveling to Wisconsin to face the 12-2 Milwaukee Wave, a win could move Rochester closer to the division's second and final playoff spot. Rochester has taken on the Blast three times already this season and have failed to come away with a win. The Lancers however have held Baltimore to just 13 points in their last two games.
Rochester will have a challenge offensively as they will face one of the league's top netminders in Sagu. Sagu is 10-3 this season for Baltimore and leads the league with a 7.67 goals against average.
Sunday's match at Norfolk will mark the fifth time this season that the two sides have met. Rochester leads the season series against the SharX, winning three of the first four clashes. After beginning the season 1-11, Norfolk has won two of their last four including a 17-12 win over Baltimore on January 12.
