Camden Riversharks News Release
CAMDEN, NJ-The Camden Riversharks announced today that they will be having spring training at Campbell's Field. The last time the 'Sharks stayed home for the exhibition season was in 2005. As a part of their preseason schedule, the Riversharks will host the Heroes of the Diamond on Sunday, April, 18th, at 1:00 p.m.
The historic "Red, White and Blue Tour" is presented by Ashford University as a celebration of our freedom designed to entertain and honor America. The team features Active Duty, Reserve, Veterans, U.S. Coast Guard, First Responders and Homeland Security Personnel in their lineup. "I am excited to get our 10th Anniversary season underway," Team Manager, Von Hayes, said, "and I consider it an honor to play against military personnel and those who have protected and who are currently protecting our country," he added.
The 314th Air Force Recruiting Squadron is proud to present the Heroes of the Diamond with additional support provided by the Battleship New Jersey and Dietz & Watson. All military, first responders and Riversharks ticket plan holders will be granted free admission, with a suggested $1 donation to preserve our nation's most decorated battleship, The Battleship New Jersey. Walk up tickets will be just $5.
The "Red, White and Blue Tour" was created "To Promote the Awareness of all Americans in Support of the Honorable Sacrifices our Armed Forces make at the Tip of the Spear." Based on the prominent yellow ribbon in the shape of an "S" located "front and center" in the distinctive "USA" logo worn on full camouflage uniforms that symbolizes "support" for our troops.
Founded in 1990, this patriotic night of baseball has reached millions with choreographed "Passing the Flag" - "Walk of Honor" - "Taps" and tribute to "9-11" to recognize the sacrifices of our wounded warriors and local heroes delivering a once in a lifetime patriotic community event.
The Riversharks are honored to be hosting an event of this nature at Campbell's Field. "I hope this is the beginning of a long-term relationship with the armed services," General Manager, Adam Lorber said.
The Camden Riversharks, who have been known to be more than just a baseball team, aspire to reach far into the community and to make every game meaningful to the participants. Each year the Riversharks host games to acknowledge military personnel and other members of the armed forces. This event symbolizes their support by giving them, and the community they are so closely linked with, the opportunity to pay respect to our nation's Troops and Veterans.
