Sharks Swim Past 'Ants, 51-24

The Tupelo FireAnts (1-11) lost to the Lake Charles Land Sharks (11-2) tonight by a score of 51-24 at the BancorpSouth Center in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Lake Charles was led by the multi-faceted Jacobe Austin, who led the Sharks on the ground with 50 yards and two touchdowns, through the air with two receptions for 17 yards, and on kick returns with three returns for 113 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Johnny Johnson completed six of 14 passes for 81 yards with two interceptions and a touchdown. On defense, Myron Turner and Anthony Whitehead each snagged an interception while Kendal Shello piled up a game-high three sacks. Lake Charles totaled 102 yards rushing and 73 yards passing for a total of 175 yards of offense with nine first downs and four penalties for 53 yards.

Your Tupelo FireAnts offense was led by quarterback Darryl Carter, who completed four of 12 passes for 52 yards with a touchdown with an interception and ran the ball three times for 14 yards before leaving the game with an injury in the second quarter. Running back Allen Copeland took the ball 9 times for 34 yards and a touchdown. Surhaver Fair hauled in four passes for 45 yards and a touchdown while Chris Edwards caught three passes for 52 yards and a score as well. On defense, Chris Edwards and Demetrius Patterson each had an interception while Erick Chandler had two sacks. When all was said and done, Tupelo totaled 60 yards rushing and 110 yards passing for a total of 170 yards of offense with 13 first downs and six penalties for 56 yards.
