Honolulu sent 13 batters to the plate in the second inning and brought across eight runs as the Sharks went on to defeat West Oahu, 9-1, tonight at Honolulu's Les Murakami Stadium.
Each of Honolulu's nine hitters collected at least one base knock as the Sharks pounded out 12 hits on the evening. First baseman Bradley Emaus went 2-4 with a triple and two RBIs to help the Sharks improve to 4-1-1 on the season. Teammate Tony Cruz also chipped in two RBIs.
Tyler Henson paced North Shore (4-2) with two of the team's four hits.
Sharks starting pitcher Satoshi Nagai (2-0) struck out five through five scoreless innings as the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles hurler lowered his ERA to 1.00.
Timothy Bascom (0-1) took the loss for West Oahu, surrendering eight runs on four hits and three walks through 1 1/3 innings.
Both squads return to Murakami Stadium tomorrow at 7 p.m. for the second game of a three-game series.
