In Independent Women's Football action this weekend, the New York Sharks (2-0) shutout the New Hampshire Freedom (0-1), 26-0 on Saturday, April 17th. The victory keeps New York tied with the Chicago Force for first place in the Mid-Atlantic Division of the IWFL.
The Sharks defense was relentless as they held the Freedom's star running back Katia Pashkevitch, a former Russian Olympic hockey player who rushed for over 1,000 yard last year to only 10 yards for the day. The defense also helped in the scoring with a 63-yard interception return for a touchdown by New York linebacker Missy Marmorale and setting up 2 more touchdown scores on an interception and a blocked punt. The other score was on a 94-yard pass play from quarterback Val Halesworth to former college track star Kathy Holloman.
