
Benihana Founder Flips for Sharks

Rocky Aoki, the Japanese-born founder of Benihana and former member of his country's Olympic wrestling team will perform the coin toss at the New York Sharks' opening home game, Saturday, April 23rd, 3 p.m., at the August Martin H.S. football field in Jamaica, Queens.
Rocky, who developed the Japanese experience of "eatertainment" with his first Benihana restaurant in New York in 1964, took an interest in the N.Y. Sharks Women's Pro Football Team when the Sharks recently acquired all star wide receiver Junko Tanida from Japan. Tanida, a 3-year football veteran moves back to her native Japan during the off-season.
The NY SHARKS Women's Professional Football Team, currently home to 55 female football players from the tri-state area represent all of NYC and are proud to be the winningest and longest operating women's tackle football team in America!
The New York Sharks are part of the Independent Women's Football League consisting of 31 teams across Northern America, from Montreal to Florida, California to Maine.
