
Sharks advance to the Championship Game for third year in a row

The New York Sharks of the Independent Women's Football League defeated the Tampa Bay Terminators by the score of 29-7 in Jamaica, Queens this Saturday in playoff football action.
The Sharks were winners of the IWFL Mid Atlantic Division with an 8-0 record and were facing the IWFL South Atlantic Division winner the Tampa Bay Terminators who finished the season with a 6-2 mark.
New York quarterback Val Halesworth was a one-woman wrecking crew. She ran for two touchdowns, threw for two touchdowns, and scored on a 2-point conversion. Halesworth threw for 193 yards in the game, one touchdown to wide receiver Jennifer Blum for 16 yards and the other touchdown went for 80-yards to receiver Dana Sparling.
It was a tough battle but New York was able to rise to the occassion to win their third consecutive IWFL Eastern Conference Championship. They will now travel to California to play the IWFL Western Conference Champion Sacramento Sirens in the IWFL Championship Game. This will be a re-match of last year's championship game participants.
The IWFL Championship Game will be held on Saturday, July 24th at Natomas High School in Sacramento, California. Kickoff is at 10pm (EDT). The game will also be broadcast on the radio by KEDU-FM 102.3 in Ruidoso, New Mexico and over the Internet at www.kedu.us.
