'Sharks Shutout Bulldogs in 4th for Comeback Victory
April 13, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL) News Release
Despite the brilliant performance from Week 4 Offensive Player of the Week, Antonio Davis, the Bulldogs were unable to keep up with the late attack from the Sharks, and were defeated 56-52.
Davis, the Bulldogs QB, will have to ice his arm after going 25 of 44 for 311 yards, which included six touchdowns. His main target on the night was wideout Anthony Tyus who caught 11 passes for 150 yards, three of which found the end zone.
The Tennessee Riversharks defense was key in the win, holding the Bulldogs scoreless in the fourth quarter. Of their four possessions in the fourth quarter, Dayton turned the ball over on downs three times, and once on a missed field goal.
With a total of 38 tackles amongst the Riversharks, along with four tackles for a loss, and two sacks, Tennessee will need to keep their defensive force going when they go up against the undefeated Lakeland Thunderbolts in Week 7. As for Dayton, it won't get any easier, as they take on the offensive leaders in the NIFL, the Rapid City Flying Aces at home April 23.
